Catalytic Converter Theft UP in Arizona
Coming to a town near you!
Toyota Catalytic Converter theft is alive and well in Phoenix AZ. I got hit again yesterday in my own driveway. This is the second time (first in 2008) on the same rig. At least this time it was a simple unbolt and run instead of the cannibalistic sawzall job I got in 2008.
A muffler shop down the block told me they had 3 walk-in customers with the same story this morning alone.
A local cop told me they have had another surge over the last 6 months. August-September, Peoria AZ police received 15 reports of stolen catalytic converters. One group of 3 guys where arrested in Peoria AZ in Sept.cutting one off a new Tundra in a parking lot in broad daylight.
Keep an eye on your rigs...even in your own driveway.
You may want to post any activity you are aware of in your area as a heads-up to fellow forum members.
BTW: If any of you have a right side mirror (glass only) I will trade for a left side one or door regulator. (94 4Runner V6 4x4) They took mine a few months ago from the same location. Thx

Im going to shoot on site.
Its pretty simple to stop all this. They need to ask for ID and vehicle registration, or some type of proof of ownership of the vehicle at the place where you turn in cats for money. Just like the scrap yards do now.

My buddy caught someone under his Taco about a year ago at 3 am in his driveway. Ran out with his gun but the tweaker was already running down the street. Truck sounded ok but the next day his exhaust broke while wheelin in the desert! I guess the tweaker was using a pipe cutter and got about halfway through the pipe. Drove home with the exhaust in the bed of the truck!
