CA-40 Fuel additive

Has anyone tried out a product called CA-40? One ounce treats about 15 US gallons of fuel. At the auto shop I work at everyone claims that it does boost fuel mileage, and they use it religiously. I don't know how well it will work in my 3.0L 4Runner, because they all drive GM's. And is it worth the 35 bucks for a quart? check out the website: ca-40g.com

im interested if it works. been trying to squeeze some mpgs from my 4thgen v8 4runner. been reading info on adding acetone to fuel (1/4 cup/ 10 gal). been reading mixed responses on its effectiveness and safety.

$35 for a quart of ca-40....
32 oz in a quart
$35/32oz = $1.09/1oz of ca-40
1oz/15 gal of gas
$1.09/15gal of gas = $.07 worth of ca-40/1gal of gas

that equates to about $.07 increase in cost per gal of gas you buy. as long as you get atleast 1mpg increase, it pays for itself.

around my part of the country (ND) diesel guys went crazy over it last summer. they claimed 3+ mpg boost and just a better running truck

now.... no one really talks about it and you dont see it sold in nearly as many places. i think people were just driving nice when they put it in and thus realized better fuel mileage. i have heard reports of it not being so healthy for engines despite their claims that it is really good for your engine.
but this is all hearsay so take it with a grain of salt.

use a cleaner once in a while & call it good. If this "miracle in a can" was all that; the petroleum giants would have jumped on it & would be putting it in the fuel already.

most of these "additives" are just that... additives. I agree with Brenjen, that all these "miracles ina can" actually work. I've been reading up on the HHO projects, and many other radical ideas.. This stuff might just work, but lets see some numbers, and what happens to your motor after treatment.
I, however am not willing to put my 84 on the line to try some formulated treatment in a can, who knows what the "additives" are???
anyway my 2 sense...

I'm not really someone who believes in these 'snake oils' either, but the way that these guys talk about it at the shop makes me want to try it. I'll see If I can get my hands on a couple of ounces and see what it does. Oh, and I will pull the plugs to see how bad they are fouled and take a boroscope to the inside of my engine and see if the carbon has gotten worse or if it has been cleaned up. I know that seafoam and other additives tend to foul the plugs and make the engine run worse.
