I will hopefully be finishing my A/C set up tomorrow (weather permitting). I'm looking for recommendations for a shop in the metro area to vacuum test and charge the system. I'll be in Aurora from Saturday through Monday, and want to get it running ASAP.

I got mine charged at Maxair in Centennial. They are located around I-25 and C470, basically County Line and I-25. I'd have to look up their contact info, but it was in the yellow pages. They evacuated my system and charged it. Can't complain about the service, they did what I asked them. Mine was a new aftermarket system (A/C Kits) and it didn't faze them and in fact said they'd installed and worked on the kit I used before.

My system will be a "factory" mix and match, due to never having had A/C before, and my 3.4 swap. I've got the '02 Taco compressor, '94 4Runner condenser and plumbing, and a '91 Truck evaporator unit. A bit weird, but it all fits together, and I can't see any reason that it shouldn't work.

 

Well, I ran into a snag this afternoon. The plumbing fittings from the 4Runner are each about half a millimeter too big around to fit the junctions on the Truck evaporator.

I made an appointment with Maxair for Monday. The service manager seems to think that they might be able to use some adapters to make it work. I hope that that is the case - I REALLY don't want to have to tear this stuff apart, again!

 

It took a little effort (and $), but I now have cold A/C in my truck!

I took the 4Runner evaporator with me, and we ended up cutting the fittings of of it, and grafting them on to the Truck evaporator. Maxair was very easy to deal with, and I highly recommend them to anyone around the area for A/C work. They also have a great deal of truck accessories there, too.
