My ARB has not been modified and I have a 1" bodylift. Here is what it looks like. There is or was a consensus that it takes some good welding to make brackets and such to move it up, so much so that you might as well go custom.

and, are the stock turn signal lights and foglights used with one of these aftermarket bumpers, or what?
my arb came with blinkers. fog lights would be a different story though... unless you had some aftermarket ones... which you could just mount on the new bumper.

When I got my 4runner, it came with the toyota brush guard. That got torn off when this idiot side swiped me after running a red from the freeway exit. IT was a huge flatbed truck. Afte my repairs, it looked funny w/o the guard on so I got his insurance to pay to replace it. I got the waag. Looks nice but I can't fit a hood protector on. The top bar is only a mm or two away from the hood edge when I open it. I am considering getting a TJM-17 but am woried that it will sag and that I will have to upgrade the front suspension. Eventually I will get around to doing it but I think the waag looks nice and I mounted lights to it. It has also come in handy for pushing shopping carts, trashcans, and people outta the way.

My guess is that the tjm w/o winch is about the same, if not lighter than your stock bumper + brushguard.

I read from a recent post that the suspension would need to be upgraded...no? If not, I met get it sooner than later. The price for the tjm's jumped up a little to from what I have been noticing.

I am currently running the factory chrome bumper minus the valance, a chrome grill guard, clear turn signals, and clear corners. BUT I want a custom tube bumper. Just need to get some tubing and build it.

i may be mistaken, but the tjm is generally reffered to as a lighter bumper than the likes of arb. but..dont quote me on that.

so you may be in the clear

ARB bambi bar, for one reason only- to protect the truck from all the effing deer wandering around in my neck of the woods. I commute 500-700 miles/week, so I'm bound to smack a deer sooner or later. Bring 'em on!

I've seen trucks with ordinary grille guards that have hit deer, and it seems they actually make the damage to the vehicle worse. Most are pretty flimsy. "Brush guard" is a better name.

Well, okay, I lied- I have one for two reasons: protection, and they look awesome.

Cheers,
Dave

If I were to do it all over again, I would have gone for an ARB or TJM, instead of a WAAG. It looks great, and provides a mounting point for my lights, but I want more protection up front. It has already been pushed back from hitting a rock while charging through a mudpit and dented the hood and fender a bit.

Nice Truck there Rome
I like ARB/TJM bumpers and was about to get one until I stumbled upon badland bumpers. I too like having something a bit different!

I have a Euro brush guard. It has large tubes and front rubber pads. Wish I bought a ARB bull bar instead.

Yep, if I could do it all over again, I would go ARB.

If I had only found this site sooner.

The Go Rhino I have looks good, but an ARB would look so much better and be more functional.

Anyone wanna trade?

Well, according to this thread, the TJM-15 weighs 40 lbs more than the stock bumper. How much does your brushguard weigh? I'd bet 40lbs or more.

An ARB would be actually lighter for me. My brushguard spec sheet says it weighs 70 pounds.

i saw teh WEIRDEST arb bumper on a landcruiser yesterday afternoon. it was HUGE, basically inhibited the drivers viewing of the road. on the back window he had a sticker that read "ICEBREAKER" and he had Alaskan plates... so i can only assume he uses it to drive on... ice?

i dont get it.. but thats gotta be illegal. it had a huge lift, gigantic tires and was snorkeled as well. anyone know what bumper that is or what its for? If i'd been next to him at a light i would've asked, but he pulled a quick right turn and lost me.

by the way, it might have been that he added the upper piece onto the arb, as the part where the upper grille (that inhibits the drivers view) didnt seem to match.

I bought my manik used for $200 Cad. I figured I couldn't lose much on that. They look good, but are not designed for physical abuse. (it's like beautiful women: they are not the most practical to live with but the look good )

I would like to get a bumper from Zedex sometime. They look sturdy and I like how the lights are mounted. I would probably loose the skirts on the side of the bumper where the signal is mounted and use the corner lights next to headlight for signal lights. First I need a small bodylift before I get a bumper. Seems to be the more logical order.

So I can't mount a 9000lb winch to my manik?
