Brake resivor sensor acting up?

Hello! Dose anyone know what the small sensor in the middle of the brake resivor does? Some weeks ago I noticed my brake light going on and off while driving. First, I pulled out the small switched for the emergency brake and it functioned fine. If I unplug the sensor in the middle of the brake master cyclynder the brake light on the dash goes back to normal. I thought the sensor on the resivor was to signal if fluid was to low but the fluid level is fine. Brake fluid is clean too. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have this issue with my 89 4Runner 3vze. I just keep a bottle of brake fluid in my truck and when it comes on I add about a teaspoon of it and it shuts off. No big deal. Not sure if I have a leak. Maybe I should investigate it.

That is to detect low brake fluid levels.

Are you sure the level is where it should be.

It is normal for the level to drop as the brake pads wear
