I took my 2" BL off the other day (it's already got a buyer 
) and I noticed a significant difference in the ride from doing so. On certain turns I hardly swayed at all, whereas with the BL it was more noticeable.
I would personally not deal with a BL unless there was no reasonable way around it and even then, I would max out at a 1" BL.

Got a 3" body lift on 88 longbed std cab, 2" suspesnsion lift, no sway bars and 35x12.5's. SWEET PERFECTION! Finest handling vehicle I've ever driven, driven many sports cars. I FLY around corners, NO body roll. Couldn't possibly roll the thing, unless way off camber, maybe. Hit ice high speed once, verifying this, recently. Slid sideways 55mph 'till I run into dry pavement and slid to a long, still upright, halt. Love rallying the gravel roads 'round here. Chase me if you dare! It's the most stable, well balanced, vehicle I've ever owned, hands down.

I had a subaru station wagon with essentially a 4" body lift (no frame, but it just had 4" tall blocks everywhere where the suspension or drivetrain attached to the body). sure, it lost some stability on the road, and the enormous tires (29s on a car that came with 22s factory), and no sway bars, made it a little interesting. but it's not a race car, so don't drive it like it is one.
the coolest part of the subaru was the fact that it had nothing hanging down in the middle. looking at the yota, I'm seeing images of it hung up with the tcase on a big ol' rock. so my solution is bigger tires (made possible by a body lift) and a drivetrain lift. between a 2" drivetrain lift (which eliminates the linkage and radiator problems), and replacing the tcase xmember with a budbuilt preformed one would allow for almost 4" of clearance there, not including the clearance gained from the tires.

Most guys do a 1" BL when they swap out their engine for a bigger one so they don't have to change their hood. Sometimes there is much less work required to do a 2" BL vice a 3" BL.

I had a 2" body and 3" spirng lift on my 85 4runner. Ran 38's with no problems.
The truck looked good and felt good; although honestly, I didn't have it long enough to really tell how it handled
Some POS stole it when we were at dinner!!!
We got it back after it had been rolled several times on a powerline road in Ga.
Maybe it wasn't so stable after all

just installed my 3 inch body, on my 89 pickup, yeah sure i can't take turns at 60mph, but then again if i did i would buy a car...i drive a truck for a reason expecting certain negatives for the positives.

A 1" body lift does many things:
Frame rail clearance for running fuel lines, air lines and other things on top of the frame rails where they are still protected but accessible
Tire clearance cause sometimes all you need is an inch
Driveline clearance for things such as dual cases, t-case e-brake, etc.
Eliminates the need for all the extra things you have to do for bigger body lifts

I like my 1 inch body lift. Very easy to install, don't have that stupid gap that you do with a 2 or 3 inch, and provides the lift I needed/wanted. Took me about 3 hours in total to do mine thanks to a bent bolt (I think my 4runner was in a previous accident) and a not very helpfull friend.

do your one inch, and rub until the cows come home. I need more than six inches of lift because i still rub. I wheel my truck just like anyone else. My reasoning for a 3" bodylift was because i am not going to do all those little tedious things for a measly one inch. MY 2 Cents!!!!!!!!

I have a 1" body lift for all of the above reasons I mentioned except for tire clearance.
4" lift with 39.5 Iroks and I don't rub and would still not w/o the body lift.
I made it myself and installed it by myself in under 3 hours and there was nothing tedious about it. It was spacers and bolts. Easy.
Take off that ridiculous 3" body lift, and you still rub with 33s?,
grow a pair and use the sawzall on the fenders and tub the firewall and then you won't rub!When do your cows get home?

I havn't had the issues mentioned ie rolling body, and squeaks.
But still have drivers side tire rub when it's compressed maybe should have went with 3"
