Best replacement CV half shaft??

I have had a leaking cv boot for a year and a half now and the cv shaft is now starting to make some noises. I'm going to replace the whole cv half shaft and was wondering what replacement cv shafts are the best? The only thread I found mention the NAPA replacements were good, anyone else have any problems with them or success with any other replacements. Also a concern is the boots that come with the replacement, which replacement comes with a strongest boots since my truck is lifted. Thanks for any info.

I had to find one recently and the only place in town that even had one was Napa. $102 with an $80 core.

I also got mine from Napa. No problems with it at all. Only reason I got it there was like A. Jim said they were the only ones who had it in stock.

If you plan on wheeling it I would go the junk yard and find a really crapy one (for around $20)and use it as a core to by a new spare CV to take along with you. It will come in really handy some day. Ask How I know.... I tend to learn everything the hard way.

Thanks guys. Jim, I called NAPA in town and none of the stores showed it in stock so I will have to order it. I did want to ask you how strong are the boots on the NAPA shaft?? Do the seem decent?? Thanks

Only diff I notices was that the boots to the outer have fins that are quite a bit closer together and with my lift they do touch where as on my stock one they do not. I will take a pic to show what I mean. Not a huge deal though.

Wow, I wish someone would have told me NAPA had them earlier. I went around every where trying to find the CV before I tried NAPA. No junkyards have any newer runners here, so I couldnt find one there. I know what you mean about the boots. The pic below is my new CV, and the old one, had what seemed like much more clearence between the fins. I am alittle worried about the boots ripping, but they have held up fine for the first month. I thought it was just me. This is with about 3" of suspension lift, and the 1" Diff drop.

I rebuilt my own with a boot kit from Eastern imports for @ $8 when my boot got torn. It was really a lot simpler than I thought. All I had to do was take it apart, wash out all the grease, regrease everything and put it back together. @ 1 hour time spent.

I got mine from Napa, but the boots bit the dust very quickly. Got a boot kit from Toyota for like $40 and put the Toyota boots on the halfshaft. They have done fine and the fins are not nearly as close together as they were on the ones from Napa.
