Bedliner'd Truck?

I'm thinking about doing my rig in Duraback. It's tough as hell aparently and unlike paint it won't get all bashed up.
I know of two people using the stuff on their rigs.
Toyota_Dave: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=569510

And luvthejeep: http://www.mallcrawlin.com/forum/sho...light=duraback

I want to use the same color of Duraback as luvthejeep, a nice bright yellow

Opinions?

Oooh, Orange, me likey orange... The only things I can't stand are the trucks that are Herculined. I think it looks ridiculous.

Other than my measeley $0.02, I don't have anything to add.

There is a late 70's LandCruiser around here that is done in black Rhinoliner inside and out. It looks really good. I know a guy who knows a guy who had an S10 done in Rhinoliner, and he said you could throw rocks at the truck and not damage it at all. Personally, I wouldn't do it to a daily driver, but a trail truck I like it.

I saw a Taco once, almost made me hurl. Yes it's utilitarian, but ugly.

And I'm sure it holds up well. I saw advertisements saying the military was looking to use Line-X on all it's buildings in battle zones, because the building would survive a pretty good blast without collapsing.

I'm really curious what this Duraback is though? Does it have the same texture as Herculiner/Rhinoliner/Line-X? Yes, I'll do some research now...

Edit:
OK, I can't spell, because it's apparently Durabak. And to me, it looks just like all the other "liner" products.

My only concern is longevity of the color. Whats it going to look like in 5 years? Theres a blue one round here thats all faded out and crappy looking. But i guess you get what you pay for. Btw I vote for yellow.

It will be yellow for sure.
Not sure if it will fade but at least it will hold up to a lot of ☺☺☺☺.

I think OOP's truck is done that way in red, and it's now pink. That shiny yellow will become pee yellow in a year or 2.

Hello PEE-YELLOW! "This is my bad-ass truck, I Rhino-lined it PEE-YELLOW!Not cool-ass bright yellow but PEE-YELLOW." think about it. Nothing's going to hold-up to rocks being scraped slowly across your truck. Theres a difference in throwing and scraping.
What I did to my yellow truck? Flat yellow. Flat 07 FJ cruiser yellow. Do you know what "rock-guard" is? The orange-peeled lower quarter of most newer cars? Thats my truck.

I've wheeled with this guy a few times.. His truck is done in Duraback and it seems to hold up well.. He abuses it regularly:

Personally, I don't like the texture of it but for a trail rig I do think it's a good option.

I'm not too worried about fading. If it fades bad enough I can always paint over it.

First off, it's a trail truck, not a drag truck so I don't care about the weight.
Second, bed liner can't weight enough to actaully make a noticable difference imo.
Third, from what I've read, it's lighter.

i think that it will be very useful when it comes down to offroading and durability...but just as everyone else has said, that yellow is going to look nasty in the future, i would look into some sort coating that goes over it to protect from fade, i know one company offers it with their product, i dont recall if its durabak...

It's got a built in UV protection so it won't fade!

If it's only going to be on the trail, why care about the paint? Seems like a lot of money to dump into cosmetics

Seems like that stuff would chunk off anyways if you slid against a rock...

If you really care about how it looks, rattle can it!

If I really cared about looks I'd get a pro to paint it.
Even the best rattle can job looks crappy.

I don't mean it to be mean.
I like rattle can jobs but it still looks nothing like a real pro paint job.
