Auto Trans Conv.
#1
Looking at 84-89 Runners. Prefer AT, but might end up with 5spd. It will be a daily driver and spend alot of time in traffic. If I want to convert 5spd to AT my guess is I will need the following
Transmission
Shifter w/linkage
flywheel
ECM
Looking for feedback on the conversion. I know the 5spd is a better match to the 4cyl, but I'm interested in ease of driving, not the pwr issue.

I'd rather have the 5 speed and I have the auto. But to answer your question, you'll need the transmission, all linkage, transfer case, ecm, trans lines with cooler and I know there's a few more parts. What part of the country are you in. I could'nt find a good 5 speed 4Runner (85-89) here in AZ when I was buying. So I ended up with an auto in pretty good shape with only 140k on the vehicle, all original.
