A340F/H Wiring

I've almost completed the tranny swap on my 86 pickup, but have hit a snag with the wiring.

I pulled out the stock A340F (it's a turbo pickup, so no A340H), and it has 5 connectors going to the tranny. The W56 I've put in only has 2 connectors(neither of them are the same as on the auto).

I'll try to get pictures ASAP, but until then, could someone give me at least an idea of which connectors would go to the neutral start switch, the reverse lights and the 4x4 light?

4x4 light should be on the transfer case I think.

The two harnesses on the tranny. I think the one on passenger side is reverse lights and the one on the left is the clutch start harness.

I am not positive though.

So, the answer (to part of it anyways) turned out to be simpler that I thought it would be.

Turns out the big 3 wire plug controls both the neutral start and the reverse lights. The white/yellow(it'd dirty) is the neutral start, the blue is are the rverse lights, and black: ground(duh)

Still have yet to figure out the 4x4 switch...but don't care rightnow.

This really does lead me to wonder though, what the hell the other wires do

86 RTE auto to manual swap electrical

Hey Bill reviving an old thread here, I have the same truck, the 86 turbo and i'm going through the same crap as you did in 2006.I got 5 plugs coming out of the tranny that unplug right underneath the throttle body. Seems like a lot of wires for such few items. The wire colors on that big plug you mentioned are the same on my truck. I will be hooking up the neutral safety switch and reverse lights using the wires you mentioned. I really have no other choice right now as the Toyota FSM has apparently been discontinued for that year. Any other manual probably can't be trusted from what I read. Where did you find out what wire goes where? did you find out which wires control the 4WD indicator light? any other helpful hints would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I went though the same mess swapping my truck too. I never got the 4wd indicator to work. The best I can tell is that it grabs a signal off of the transmission computer.
