trouble with coolant getting into oil. thought it was the head gasket and replased it. still getting coolant in oil. is there somewhere else coolant can get into oil resevoir???

 

well first off you have to tell us what your driveing

 

1991 toyota pickup 22re 2wd nothing fancy

 

sounds like the timeing chain has worn a hole thourgh cover

 

It could be that or a cracked block, bad head gasket or improper torque on the head. Not enough torque or using the head bolts to many times at the proper torque can do it to.

 

Did the motor ever over heat on you before the HG rebuild? Did you have the head pressure tested and resurfaced by a machine shop, when you replaced the HG?
What did the timing chain guides look like when you tore down the head? What did the timing chain cover look like, did it have reverse railroad tracks wore into it? If yes then this is your culprit.

Did you re-use the head bolts or put new ones in? Did you torque them to the proper spec and in the proper sequence. Did you retourque them after 1K mi. (some say you need to some say not, up in the air if needed or not)?

Did you flush out the cooling system and flush the motor to clean any left over coolant out? Have you changed the oil more than once since doing the HG?
