Good idea... The main reason I always remove the fill plug first is that if it's stuck, I want to know about that before I need to add oil.

YEAH, I know that one.... good thing I removed it first....I had to wait until the tranny was out for a clutch to get enough torque on the plug to get it off...

you're transmission and differential fluids will usually last you a long time 30K+. If you are thinking of changing to synthetic motor oil, than no, because there is no direct connection of the fluids from the motor to the transmission. I do believe however that all of your differential and transmission fluids should be synthetic based.

Changing the oil is rediculously easy. I put Valvoline in mine, haven't had any problems. Changed both the transfer case and the manual transmission at the same time. Took me about ~40 min start to finish.

If I had it to do over again, I would use a HAND PUMP to put the oil in instead of the syringe contraption I currently have.

Oh, and be waiting on that oil. Bob has a great writeup on it. And he ain't kiddin about saying it comes shooting out like a missile either!

I used THIS guide.

Nope, as there is no real way to flush a manual tranny, thats an auto thing. You want to make sure the oil is warm (flows better), and drain it... I do usually leave the drain out for the first two pumps to clean out a bit more...but not necessary, if the fluid is warm and the truck was just driven the particles will be suspended and drain out the bottom...
