2nd gen speedometer question
I have a 85 truck, with a 89 4runner gage cluster, and Dana 300 case, 5.38's and 37 MTR's. I hooked up the speedo to see how far it was off so I could order a new gear to slow it down. In my old rig I had a Stewart Warner speedo with the same t/c, gears and tires and it read 70 when my GPS said I was doin 55. Well now I have this set up in my Toy and when my GPS says 55the Toy speedo says 95. Why? are Toy speedo's geared? WTF? I can't get a gear big enough to compensate for this error.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
I know speedos are overrated, but I kinda want it to work.

Something ain't right! Your speedo should read LESS than what you really are going. Toy speedo's were geared up until about 1993. You follow the cable down into your trans/transfer and check it.

It's all mechanical, but the 300 case came out of a Jeep which was originally geared alot taller than a factory Toy, ot what I have now, hence the +15 MPH at 55 on teh S/W unit. Made perfect sence to me, this however is nuts.
