22re problem

I'm putting this here because it doesn't really have anything to do with making my truck better, just running.

I just got this truck it runs good I did a donut in the mud, took it home and now when I turn the key the starter doen't crank and it says check engine. Only thing I can think of that I did that might have caused it is I adjusted valve lash and I didn't check the timing before I started running it, but I've only gone down the street and back since, and done the donut.
I don't see how the starter could have gone out so suddenly, anyone got any clues?

Check your connections to the battery and make sure the battery's good. Take it from there.

Did you check the little wire on the starter? Should have 2. One from the battery and the other is a brown tabbed/clip wire.

Ya the battery is fine and the wires are there, the wire from the battery to the fuse box looks pretty bad tho.
