2008 Toyota Hilux

Hi guys,

I have been going through the threads to read about everybody's Toyota's. I was born knowing Toyota since my parents always had a Toyota. Here's a recap:

1970 Toyota 1000 (2nd hand)
1983 Toyota Hilux (new)
1984 Toyota Corolla (new)
1985 Toyota Cressida (new)
1993 Toyota Camry (2nd hand)

After driving the Cressida myself, I decided to buy my own car and I bought a 1992 GMC Sierra 1500 truck. I bought this GMC because I like big/high vehicles, so I got a very good deal to buy the GMC 10 years ago, so after 10 years of GMC, i decided to buy my first 0 km brand new car and I choose for a Toyota Hilux (it's Toyota's fleet here in my country; no Tacoma's).

Now, this thread is about my new 2008 Toyota Hilux: I did order a 2008 Hilux and I will receive it in September 2007 (I bought the 2.7 VVT-i Gas Engine - 2TR-FE) and the main issue is that our local Toyota dealer does not order accessories for their cars, so I will have to import them. We import a lot from the U.S. but the problem here is that Toyota US does not have Hilux in their fleet, so it's very very hard to find accessories for Hilux in the US.

For a reference about my truck, click here www.toyotahilux.com.ar and for a complete line of accessories, click here: www.amiun.com.ar/accesorios-listado.php?model=4

I want to know if there is anywhere in the US to find accessories for the new Hilux; no need to be original accessories, but I need the following:

- Hard Tonneau Cover

- Tubular Side Steps

Optional accessories wanted:

If anyone can help me find an online store where i can get accessories for the Toyota Hilux will be great and apreciated.

Thank you guys...! I will look at Jason's website and will e-mail him tonight.

As for 4x4Fink's comment: Here in my country they only offer a 2.5L Turbo Diesel & a 3.0 Turbo Diesel (no gasoline engine within their standard fleet) but I hate diesel since it's loud, noisy, dirty and uncomfortable for a smooth ride, so for some one with only 7,500 km per year like me, Toyota Corp. here agreed to order a 2.7L Gasoline, it's the same as the Tacoma's (2TR-FE). And since it's a special order (I have to wait 6 months - till September) I will get the newest which is 2008. Mine does not have the overfender kit, but it's OK and fine for me. I will get a similar truck as this (without the hood air intake and same Silver Metalic):

For entertainment, you can check my GMC Sierra website: www.gmc-titanic.info

would you happen to be in argentina?
can't you get the 4.0L V6 engine, like the tacomas???
because in Venezuela you can get the hilux "KAVAK" version, which brings rollbars, extended fenders, and a few other add ons aside from the 4.0L V6.
in Venezuela, there are a lot of these trucks, but barely anyone accesorises them, since Toyota of Venezuela still imports brand new FZJ 80 and FZJ 70 3-door, 5-door, and troopie versions .
good luck finding accesories, and make sure to post pics of it once you get it!!!

Diesel engines are the worst engine I have every seen... You must see how the new Diesels does smoke, noisy etc...

Here they sell only Hilux 2.5L & 3.0L Diesels, but I did make a special order to have mine in Gasoline (the 2.7L VVT-i runs nice and smooth).

Kino: I live in the Caribbean on a very small island south of Venezuela and our Toyota's are imported from Toyota Argentina S.A. and I cannot get it in V6, only 4 cyl. engines gas are available for the Hiluxes. It's the same as the Tacoma's. Here you have 2 options: the DX package or the SR5 package and the price difference is about 6,000.00 US Dollar for the SR5 only to get the overfenders (flares), wider tires, aluminum steps and fog lights.

Hi guys.

I want to change my OEM wheels/tires for bigger sizes but without having it stick out. I want to avoid fitting flares because I don?t like drilling holes in the side of my truck to mount the flares to avoid rust in the future. The original tire size for DX is 205/70 R16 steel rims (mine) while the SR5 version is 255/70 R15 Aluminum rims, so I was thinking that I can buy the (option# 1) OEM SR5 15? Aluminum rims and mount some 31x10.5 Mastercraft Courser AWT (my favorite tire; I have had 3 sets on my current GMC truck) or I can keep my (option# 2) OEM Steel 16? rims with a new set of 245/70 R16 Courser AWT. I went to an auto accessories specialist here in my country and the advised me that in order to put some 3rd party rims; I have to buy rims with an offset of +25.

Now guys I need some help from you to see what?s the best for my new 2008 Hilux and need some tech info like, which rims is better: 15 x 8 offset +25 or 16 x 7 offset +25 etc?

I hope you can just give me some ideas and for some useful info, you can go to http://www.1010tires.com for wheel/tire selection and for some interesting calculators. I found this super rims 17" x 8" - 6/139.7 offset +25 and I just loved it:
