Hey my moms 93 jeep made it past 100k it had 110k, even though it was 2wd cherokee, 4.0 6cyl. auto, and she traded it in on a honda civic for $400 (on paper it was $4000 so she could get a better deal) it was in pretty good shape, i dont remember it burning oil but it did leak a little bit. I would have drove it........(im kinda glad that it was traded in though...cause then i wouldnt be enjoying the life of 4wd!!!!!!)

1,000,000 miles is pretty impressive, I dont care what anyone says, and on an original Auto tranny, thats insane... it had to have been rebuilt though, right?

haha yeah pretty sweet story. that would be so sick to pull into a toyota lot @ 1 million miles. I'd say that'd be at least good for a 50% off discount. Toyota could make a huge deal out of it and they should!

I couldn't tell, is that a 3.0? At one point he talks about a timing belt and of coarse the 22re has a timing chain.

That's a good point - I just assumed when I originally read that website that it was the 22RE because it was a 4x2 but there was definately some 3vze 3.0's put into those 4x2's as well, and there is one picture of himi and the truck where you can see the front of the truck but where the V6 emblem would be on the grill he is in the way so you can't tell. He also mentions "burnt valve" in his truck too, on top of the timing belt which you pointed out. Leads me to believe it could be a 3.0 as well.

I contacted Auburn Toyota to find out if they knew if it was a 3.0 or 22RE - waiting to hear back hopefully. I don't see a contact/email on his webpage, that's why I did it.

What? It's a V6? Well he has to be lying cause I think they are the worst motors Toyota ever made. He isn't telling us everything.

What more can he tell us? It's either a V6, or a 4 cylinder.

Why is it the worst motor? Mine has been going strong for 14 1/2 years now.

Ok, what do you consider to be the worst motor Toyota ever made? Keep in mind that the worst Toyota motor may still be in the upper percentile in the overall industry.

I remember a story back in the 80's about a guy that owned two Cadillacs he used in his limousine service. One of them had a lot of miles.

He tells the story this way (paraphrasing);

I live in a fairly small town. Everyone knows what is going on. I go to the same store every other week to buy oil. I change the oil every 1500 miles, which is about twice a month. That is a lot of oil. Back in the 50's they used to rib me when I came in to buy the oil. Hey Earl, what are you feeding with all that oil? That continued as a joke through the 60's, 70's, and now into the 80's. Last week I passed a million miles with no engine work. They have stopped laughing... I'm a folk hero.

No way to know if the story is true. But it was written up in Life magazine. Back when news reporters had slightly more integrity. Great story in any event.
