It seem's to me that the Owner, Founder, Co-founder, as well as the existing Mod's. Could do the picking and choosing of whom get's a Mod position better than someone nominating themselves.

They could look back at whomevers post's, see if their post's make sense { in any given post }, see if their input was fair, worthwhile, etc.etc.

Also see if the nominee did any swearing in his/her posting.

You can't have a Mod who swears like a sailor, in the role of a Mod.

An finally see how the nominee reacted [ post wise ] to someone elses Whining/Crying/Bitching post.

There seems to be a lot of that on forums.
That is why we need staff who do not mind being baby sitters from time to time.

I swear, some of the crap I see here (and elsewhere in other forums) you would think they grew up with a golden spoon in their mouth, and the only way to act tough is to bash others online.

Some go to forums to play and act tough, others go to forums to share their knowledge of what they have accomplished, and others go to forums to learn so they can accomplish the same things on their rigs.

We are trying to weed out the first in the above paragraph.

Some think that mods in the past here have been to heavy handed, I do not agree.
Some are asking for it here, and some should have been given the boot long ago.

I agree with you totally Corey. When a user is caught bashing / flaming another forum member, 1 warning from a Mod. that's it then it's Banning time.

Of course they'll just sign up under another user name, and continue their same old crapola.

The Banning button works very easily, been there already on another forum.
They do learn after awhile, but there is some "Training" involved.

Question is, why do they have to act tough online?
Perhaps because in real life they do not have the cajones to face the person face to face whom they are attacking?

They can safely hide cowardly behind their keyboards though...

I am sure you have seen some of the crap that goes down in online arguments or attacking other members when they are not around.
Would you talk face to face to someone like that?
Not unless you wanted a real fight on your hands.

That is the main reason Chris and I started this board, to have a nice environment to discuss Toyotas without the bashing.

Exactly.

What a person say's on a forum, he or she most likely wouldn't say in public, or face to face with another person, for fear of being used for a wheel chock.

i'll chime in back on topic. Axleike is my nomination. the guy understands and fully believes in tread lightly (all mods should live and die by it, from what ive seen and experienced with Molly, this holds true with the current mods). plus, he's knowledgable, a good wheeler not just a web wheeler, and will help out a fellow wheeler when he can. just a stand up guy in my book.

Hey guys!! I appreciate it!! I was looking forward to modding here at YT, but it looks like due to some obligations and things that cane up this weekend, I won't be able to, there is just no way I could devote enough time to it....
I'll of course still be around, feel free to PM me any questions or whatnot, just like always, and I have made the offer to Corey that I am glad to help out on a part time or temp basis when he needs me!!

Thanks again for the nomination guys!!! Means a lot to me that other members of this Community think I am capable of it! Thanks!!

For those that nominated me, I am humbled. Unfortunately, as I already shared with Corey, I have some stuff on the horizon for me that is going to fill an already overflowing plate. I would not want to give you guys less than my best effort, the community of YT deserves more than that. So, I have respectfully declined.

I am sure that there are several more excellent choices within this fantastic group of people, and they will help YT continue to be one of the best Toyota forums out there!

Rule 1 on another forum I frequent:
Post like you would speak to people while standing in front of him/them.

That pretty much sums it up imo.

Words to live by.
That is exactly the way I post in all the forums I participate in.

Now if you suffer from Tourette?s Syndrome (uncontrolled swearing etc.) you'll unfortunately get banned everywhere.

Too much 'out' and not enough 'in' makes Jack a dull boy...

I vote Ric, and if he wins, I might come here more often.
