What are the symptoms of "vapor lock?"

I am aware of what vapor lock is, but what are the symptoms of it? How can I identify vapor lock? What does the engine feel like when it stalls from it? What should my float glass look like? Will my fuel pump have pressure? If I were to, say, remove the line between the fuel pump and carb, would it shoot gas everywhere or just be empty? What causes vapor lock? I've heard that steep inclines/declines and elevation can do it.

Vapor lock is caused by heat .

The gasoline gets so hot it turns to vapor before it enters the carburetor

Being vapor it is not able to be pushed by the fuel pump

Being your fuel pressure is most often less then 5psi that does not help compared to the EFI pressures

Not having had to deal with this for Decades I all can recall is the engine just dies or feels like a very blocked fuel filter
