what makes 84-85 front axles better

I bent my original 79 front axle......when I picked up an 84 axle I could tell right away the factory truss on the bottom side of the axle was going to be make this axle tough! I also threw all I could at it as far as armor and trussing went since I bent one axle already I did not want a repeat.
