floor jack, bottle jack

floor jack, bottle jack
Where's a good place to buy a bottle jack and a floor jack?
My current floor jack is a 2.5Ton aluminum low-profile jack that I use on the RX-7s. It is clearly not built to do work on the 4Runner -- the jack maxes out just after making contact with the front crossbar.

So.. I need to get a good 4ton floor jack for the 4Runner. I figure that while I'm asking, I might as shop around for a good 4ton bottle jack to carry inside the 4Runner.
Ideas? (No references to Northern Tool plz, been there, done that, threw the jack away.)

You'll be tempted to head to Harbor Freight or simular places, but when it comes to things like Jacks, lifts, jack stands, etc., spend the extra money and choose quality, not value. Maybe Sears, Home Depot, Summit?

Sears, Home Depot and Summit all sell the same made in China garbage you can get at Harbor freight, it just costs more.
I bought a race jack for my car, and it works well enough for what it is. Same goes for a floor jack. Any 3 Ton (not sure who makes 4 ton) floor jack will work just fine. Make absolute sure you use jack stands.

this long frame jack http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42820 from HF will lift 31.5"...about 8-10" higher than most jacks. It is a beast but I would like to have one sometime...

I have a Craftsman 3 ton floor jack and like DeathCougar says I ALWAYS use jack stands. You don't want to be that guy that got smashed while changing his oil.

Any time I use a jack, I use jack stands -- that isn't a problem. I have some good 3Ton stands already.

A friend of mine has this one for nearly a decade now. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=34271
It's pretty beefy, and has lifted more cars and trucks than I care to think about. As long as you don't have to carry it anywhere it's great. The thing weighs a ton.

I got my 'black jack' from Costco. ITs a low-pro 3 ton jack that jacks up pretty damn high (higher then any jack I could find). Lifts my truck well off the ground.
Was only like $60 to! And you got the bitchin costco warrenty/return policy
