Transmission Trouble: '85 manual
I have an 85 pickup with a manual transmission and it will not shift into reverse or 5th gear. I have replaced the seat and bushing on the shifter which I found to be broken. This made no difference with the shifting problem. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

true but it honestly could be a whole bunch of different things such as shifting forks, the gears could be completely shaved which is a worst case scenario but it wouldnt hurt to check them, and as well as the syncros i just said clutch because thats one of the cheaper things in the trans

If it's carburated G52
EFi W56A
But anything from 1984 to 1995 behind a 22r will work, theres just small differences such as forward shift vs top shift. Worst case scenario you will have to trim the cab floor for the new shifter position I did it went from a G52 tranny to the stronger W56b. This has been asked countless times do a search next time there's infinite info in here....
