Timing nightmare.

Hey guys. I've never done a timing set on a Toy before and have, of course, run into a few snags. Got it all back together right according to everyone I talked to AND according to the Haynes manual. I STILL cannot get this darn thing to run right. It acts like the timing is too far advanced. I have pulled the dist. about fifty times and tried to time it but cannot get it to run like it did before. BTW, damn lucky I did the timing set because the guides were in the oil pan and had a small groove bginning in the side of the cover!

How about a year, an engine, and maybe a better description of how it is behaving.

Sorry. It is a '92 toyota 22re. Two wheel drive. It is pinging and dieseling really bad as I drive down the road, and has no power. Feels like timing is too far advanced. I think I will try and time it the RIGHT way and see what happens.
