third member ribs

third member ribs

i have a 94' 4runner SR5 V6 and i was changing my fuel pump when i noticed that i have a six ribbed third member and not an eight it concerned me being i have a V6 it should be an eight rib could this mean that the gears have already have been swapped with a 4 cyl. third member

yes, 4cyl = 6 ribs. 6cyl = 8 ribs.

whats your concern?

Depends on if you are counting the ribs correctly.

my concern is i have a 6cyl. with a 4cyl. rear

as long as the front/rear gear ratio's are the same, there is nothing to be concerned about.

or am i missing something ?

yea what i thought lol now i have to see what kind of gears are in there i was goin by my axle code which would be wrong do to this

Pull the driveshaft off the pinion flange and let me know what color the nut is painted.

and its true i marked tire and drive shaft and did my calculations my axle code is correct so i got one of the rare ones lol the only thing that sucks is the gearing
