Steering gear dust boot strap

Hey everyone, first post here. Last year I replaced my inner tie rod because the boot broke open and the ball joint was so rusted that there was quite a bit of play in it.

Anyway I replaced the tie rod and the boot but I couldn't get the strap the dealer gave me to lock around the boot. The strap looks like it would be really easy to just "snap" shut around the boot but I just couldn't get it. I was wondering if anyone else who's used the same dealership supplied strap had any success and how? Do I need a special tool? Also if there's any alternative then I'd be willing to use that too. Like a hose clamp or something. Thanks a lot in advance!

Wow, I stumped Yotatech? I didn't think it was possible. Oh well this site has helped me countless times when i wasn't even registered so it's all good. I'll probably just use a hose clamp then.
