steel brake line install

i got new steel brake lines for my rear brakes and they are already bent like the old ones but i am having trouble tightening the fittings in..how tight do they need to be? and do they need to be screwed in all the way? i remember them being pretty secure before

They should thread in farther than that. Grab the line and try to move it in and out. If it moves, no good. Make sure you got the correct METRIC size brake lines and not SAE (American) brake lines.

i bought them through the toyota dealership. i did buy some from napa that i was going to bend myself but they were way too long to get the shape i needed.
should they completely screw in? when you say to move the brake line, you mean the whole thing once it's in there?
thanks

Wink

As long as they don`t leak your good to go

If you got dirt in the fitting they will never seal correct .

The nut pushes the flare into the female part that is how flare fittings work.

Yes, Grab the line after you thread the fitting as tight as it will go. If it moves then its not sealing properly.
