kinda a dumb question i guess, but why do you have a winch on your truck?
some people have different uses for them, and i'm just kinda curious to see why you have one and what you use it for.
also, if you have pics and/or info on where you bought it and how much it cost that would be great too! thanks.

I have one for when I am out by myself & get stuck. nothing worse than hand digging your truck out.
Are you in the USA?
here are some pics:

mounted in the ARB bull bumper

the bumper is about $1200 and winch about $800 canadian = $1,700 US$
never had to use it yet but it is cheap insurance. better then walking or a tow - or waiting for someone nice to come & get you out when you were being dumb

I have the same bumper, got it and a Warn XD9000 for 1400, us. I needed one several times the year before I bought one, havent hardly used it since I got it, for being stuck. I have helped others out, and use it when getting firewood...
celica...any pics of where you hid your control box?

Unlike a lot of places in this country, here in NV you can get over 100 miles away from civilization. I frequent these remote areas several times a year on hunting trips. With little to no chance of someone passing by, a winch becomes a necessity (IMHO). I've used mine quite a few times in this type of situation (mostly snow related recoveries).
I've used it a few times for utility reasons as well (pulling stumps, moving things, etc.) Money well spent.

Very true, we hunt 70 miles from pvmt at a dead end road. I have used my winch several times to clear the road to get in.
As far as multi mount, my dad has a XD9000i on a multi mount, with hitches wired front and rear on his cummins, burb, and chev P/U. The only issue with multi mount is that you need to have several snatch blocks, you cant do an offest pull like you can with a fixed mount.

I will have to see about getting pics for you.
Thanks. I am thinking of mounting mine underhood....The cord will fit thru the radiator..Then I have room on my bumper for MORE LIGHTS!!!!!

Albuquerque, huh? Cool, what is your rig like?
I use a winch in spots where I just can't get through without either blocking the trail, taking damage or possibly rolling.
I actually used a strap here with people on it to keep the front end loaded.
I had to winch here, as did everyone in our group.

i'm really a car and motorcycle guy, never really been real huge on trucks but i can see myself falling into the addiction very soon! i actually own another toyota, its a 1991 mr2 turbo. fun little car, when it runs. its got a lot of stuff done to it (built forged motor w/hks cams, gt3082 turbo, aem ems, 6-point roll cage, and some other stuff...).

so that when my (stupid) buddy tries that wicked hard line and rolls it we have a way to flop him back over or recover him from the bottom of the mud pit....
so i can log trees out of the woods, or hoists the back of the tractor in the air provided you have a strong oak tree and a snatch block...
there are a ton of reasons.
