Snorkel/no snorkel

So... i made this homemade snorkel for my '89 p/u but it looks like crap... it works (from experience) but i dont ever plan on going that deep again cuz it up a lot of other stuff... lookin at my options - get a new airbox and leave it stock, get a new airbox and make a better snorkel (preferably with a kit), or just leave it with what i have...

just wondering wut u guys think and if you think i should get a new snorkel.. where is the best place to get a cheap one?

thanks,

Lon

how about some pics of the one you have right now? but if it really looks that bad, check out ARB, as they sell snorkels...not sure if they have your year, but heck, it's worth a shot...

i think the 4x4 posts as a seat mount would get you more flack.... and judging by your avatar and the pics you posted, you need to keep it. maybe cut it down a lil to make it look better. the pic i posted above is what happened when i hydrolocked at Tahuya a month ago. i'm not looking at a full engine rebuild or having the cost of doing a motor swap, plus not having my rig for a couple months (plus add the cost of a new snorkel).... if i could go back and do it all over again the 500 bucks to get an ARB snorkel or a home made one like yours i'd do it in a heart beat.

To me it looks like you have got a lot of restrictions from the kinks where you have heated up the Conduit. Having the union right at you MC and PS pump looks to have caused one of the kinks.
I think that getting another airbox and a Safari Snorkel would be the way to go...

Don't forget to start water proofing all your other stuff too. All your ignition components and other electrical parts hate the wet, and your snorkel won't help them much.
I took a deep dip once (over the hood momentarily) and even though I had no snorkel I got out with out incident, or so I thought. One by one over the course of about 4 months all my pulleys went out.

if i was you, i would cut it at the roof, no need for that extra piece there
