Sea foam spray...

Hi this is my first time posting anything on the internet ever. I bought my first yota a month ago. 1990 half ton with the 22re. 340k kms. Was running good, but I decided to give her a tune up anyway. Before getting to adjusting the valves figured I'd clean the top with seafoam spray through the throttle body. She drank it up smoked and ran smooth, then as per directions I turned the engine off waited 10 minutes. Now it will only start for maybe one cycle, unless I floor it and keep the key cranked(probably not good but did this for a minute as to try and burn some Of the seafoam up as you are suppose to drive hard at this point) let her sit 5 hours and same thing. The brand new spark plugs are covered in soot n gunk. Could I have damaged a sensor, ignitor, seals, rings? I sprayed at the throttle body so maf shouldn't have got hit. The dealers around here(Edmonton) are terrible and my old mechanic doesn't know these trucks at all. So I am reaching out through the immense cable structure that is internet for help

I am getting 3-1 CEL , air flow meter, vacuum switch, or egr problem. So i disconnected those sensors and valves they dont seem clogged though the egr is dirty and looks pretty old. it does the same thing with all that disconected It's almost like the fuel pump just gets told to quit and I don't see how I could have damaged the AFM. What did this sea foam do?

edit I cleaned everything up put back together and now it won't even start. I'm at a loss I have no clue what to do, any input would be great

disconnecting that stuff just complicated the issue, by creating more places where something could have gone wrong... too many additional variables.

for instance, how exactly did you disconnect the air flow meter? you didn't unscrew the connector on the air box, did you? because i believe that it's attached internally with wires.

in the event that it's broken at the connection, i would think the ecu should resort to a fail-safe mode, but it should still run...i think that the fuel pump on/off is controlled by incoming air moving the vane inside the airbox?? you can bypass it: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...ORelayLocation

seafoam is a silly gimmick... the only way to really clean out a well-used 22re tb/plenum is to pull it off of the truck, and do it by hand... in that case, you have to be careful about spraying cleaner or whatever on to the tps, which is mounted to the tb.

Not familiar with your model but maybe you clogged or damaged the IAC valve.
