Running 285/75/16 on a 4runner? Please read!!

I am gonna put the OME/TRD spring and shock combo on my 99 4runner. Looks like it will give me 2-3 inches, depends since the 99's have the longer shocks to begin with, not quite sure. So I will be going up from 265's to 285's!! Anyone know the best way to get the speedometer back to normal? Are there gears to change in the dash? Thanks!!

Getting the speedo back to normal is your least concern! I believe the speedo gear is on the transfer case.

With 35's, my speedo is off by 11%, so its not really all that noticeable.

To fit your 285's, you might need to pound the pinch weld.

I agree. Its really not noticeable, but I am running 285/77/r16. You should pound your pinch weld flat too, 285's rill rub that. I would say my speed is off 5 mph at 70. I checked with a gps, and thats all its off.

ok thanks, not sure what pinch weld you're talking about. I ran into a guy the other day with a 99 sr5 with 285's, he has the same OME lift that I want......he said he hasn't had any problems with them rubbing, maybe there is something he is missing? I am gonna go outside and look at the pinch weld right now!!
