Update

Ok so I got the engine out and my engine guy Has it all torn apart and ready for machine work bore 40over and regrind the crank and whatever other magic he has in mind . My stock head was toast I was planning on the hi-per engbldr head but since money is getting real tight im going to save the hundred dollars and get the stock replacement head , I also planned on getting my injectors balanced and cleaned but im gonna wait and see how it runs first . I picked a bad tinme for my engine to lose pressure hahaha but i am excited to get it back . I fugure with a fresh motor and engnbldr cam and header it should run alot stronger then it was . Ill keep you all updated as i progress .

Is there a reason you're going 40 over? Seems like I read a thread where Ted @ engnbldr said that was the absolute maximum for most 22's.

Hey EFI, ...

Read up on the .40 over... Not saying it's a bad thing, per-say, ....but compression goes down, not up, as I remember. I decided to just find a used/good condition short block.... I got mine from Japanese Truck Dismantlers for 150$ with even the oil sender, knock sensor, crank, all caps, etc., on there(so now I have extras, lol). Most yards, if you're friendly with them and come to a pre-agreement, like I did, will let you bring it back if it's said that it has to be bored too much or crank is needing 20-30 grind..... Mine only needed 10-10 and is running like a champ around 5K later.(with a 261 Cam from engnbldr/Hastings-USA Rings/Eskie Racing Springs/Sankei Bearings/.20 over block and very minimal decking(really just resurfacing) ).

Best wishes, man!

I understand that but my engine guy is awesome and has assured me he would do what it takes to make iT all right .. He was mentioning doing something to the block with the timing cover on it so the surfaces match so I'm thinking that's what he was referring to .

Dude it almost killed me having to pay for this thing to get rebuilt right now with all the money Ive spent on xmas but it was done and I didnt wanna ask my motor guy to hang onto it until after new years .lol. I am excited to get started on it though. I decided Im going to use the stock ex manifold until feb when I can afford the header and having the exhaust fixed up to meet up with the header . Im thinkin I should still feel a big difference over the old motor even with out the header the new pistons and head and Engbldr.com cam should give me some seat of the pants excitement .lol. WISH ME LUCK ITS BEEN 6-7 years since ive done one of these .Rick
