R150 to R150F conversion
Well I've seen that there has been some discussion about this before But I would be really interested in some hard fact answers before I tackle this project.
for starters, here's what happened. I was driving my mum's 93 4runner (because mine is broken right now) with 325,000 kms on it, up the highway and the tranny starts to act a bit weird. Next thing I know I can't get the stick into 4th gear at all. It doesn't even move down into the slot. I wasn't too far from home so I used 3rd and 5th to get it back to the house and left it for the night.
The next day I check out the fluid and there is almost nothing left and it stinks and is black. I drained what was left and filled it up to the fill port with new gear oil.
4th still doesn't work, It won't down gear into 3rd until I slip it into 2nd and then up to 3rd without releasing the clutch. And there is a nasty wining noise that happens when i release the clutch in neutral which I gather is the input bearing or something.
Now for the question. I have access to a R150 from behind a 3.0 from a 1991 pickup. Can I Take that R150 remove the rear end and attach the transfer case from my messed up R150F? Or should I just rebuild my R150F, or find another working R150F?
