Questions a plenty ref locker

I have a few bucks in the bank that can go toward the 4runner. I would like to get a locker. I have to pull apart and reseal the front axle.

Now the questions....

1)Which axle gets the locker, front or rear.
2)If I put the locker in the rear, do I have to get new seals for the axles?
3) How difficult is it to pull apart the rear axle to get in there.

AND NOW THE CLINCHER!!!!

4) ARB or Detroit?

Opinions and expertise appreciated.

Usually rear locker first.
Usually you can pull the axle shafts out w/o damaging the seals in the ends of the axle tubes, but they are inexpensive and easy to replace if needed.

4 nuts per side hold the backing plate to the axle tube, disconnect e-brake cable and brake hard lines and slide out the axle shafts. Drain gear oil and then 10 nuts hold the diff into the housing, remove and pull the 3rd member out.

I've had both, ARB hands down for on- and off-road performance.

1. rear.
2. seals are cheap and easy, just put them in the freezer the night before you wanna put them in.
3. ditto above, i would also clamp brake line so all the fluid doesnt come out.
4. arb

First of all, ARB hands down. No comparison.

Taking the third out is easy.

Putting in the locker is not too bad, here's a write up:

Good luck.
