I am trying to get the basic information of my 4runner...it is an 85.

What are the gears in the differentials?
What are the gears in the transfer case?
What are the gears in the transmission?
(these are all ratios)

What is the difference betweem the 22RE and the 22R?

I know this is the newbie section, but this is a pretty complicated question, you should try searching.

There are codes on the door jamb sticker that help identify the diff gears.

I could be mistaken, but I think the transfer case is 1:1 in high and 2:1 in low.

Which transmission - auto, manual, how many gears, etc?

22RE is fuel injected, 22R is carbureted.

 

I will try a search...it is a 5 speed manual. My next question is this, my engine is labeled at 22R but it is fuel injected.

 

Hmmm - interesting - all the ones I have seen said 22RE (well except my old 22R). I think (not sure) the heads are the same, so they could have been swapped.

FYI There is a thread that explains the Toyota motor nomenclature - but the 22R means the twenty second iteration of the R motor. Z means the motor was designed for forced induction. T means it is turbocharged. F means twincam. E means fuel injected. So a 5VZFE (3.4 liter V6) is the fifth iteration of the V motor that was designed for forced induction with twincam heads and fuel injection.
