Questions, 1983 newbie
Hi. I have a few questions. I searched, maybe I missed it or it was unclear. I have a 4.7 inchworm, 4.56 front and rear.
1. I have a twin shift, can I just keep the hub locked and just use the shift when I want to go 4wd?
2. I think there is a leak on the transfer case, it's coming from on top. I can't see it. I wiped it, play and drive the truck and no sign yet, is there a common leak on the transfer case?
3. I am wondering if there is a max speed for 4wd (ex 25mph, 60mph, 65mph limit)?
Thanks.

1. Twin shift is irrelevant. Wihtout the hubs locked you are always in 2WD.
Benefit of having a twin stick is you can shift from 4WD to 2WD on the fly and vice versa.
2. Probably venting out the breather.
3. No reason to go over 40mph as I see it but I believe visor card says 50 miles per hour.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
Tries to find the difference of running down the road with yer hubs locked, and the front not engaged by the twin stick
Can you do it? Yes. You can drive it in front wheel drive for all we care.
Twin sticks are for dis engaging the front in a tight turn, crab walking or U turning with rear cutting brakes.
And max speed of the 4WD? Lock it up and take it for a spin?
That shaking you'll feel is not good for it, I'll tell you that.
And if you've got a front locker expect a little under steer.
