Power Steering Problem

I have a 1982 FJ60. I just replaced the power steering pump and belt. I lifted the front end to bleed the system, when I did so the wheels turned just fine. When I lowered it back down and turned the wheels it was making that squeeling sound and you could here a hum while siting in the truck. The belt is somewhat loose and I can not get the belt to tighten any more. What might be the issue?

Watch the belt on the pump while turning and see if it slips. If it does slip, you may need a smaller belt or work on the tensioning.

If it doesnt slip, I'd say you have air in the pump or lines. You need to burp the system. I dont remember exactly how to do it, but I'd imagine a search here or on IH8MUD would help with that.
