Another O/D problem. Just got my 88 on the road this weekend. As far as I can remember its been hitting overdrive just fine, and would shift down when I pushed the O/D of button in. Tonight (its been rather cold) I let my rig warm up a good 5 mins as always, so it was at operating temps, took it through town for a good 8 mins, and once I hit the open roads it wouldn't hit overdive.

As far as I can tell, both the engine and trans should have been very well warmed up. I don't have any blinking lights or CEL's. I even tried gaining speed slowly and backing off the throttle trying to get it to shift, and at one point I even put it in 4x4 low (hubs unlocked) and really buried it in third gear hoping it would give up and just shift for me

anything I can try tomorrow if it gives me the business to maybe get it to shift into O/D? It'll be my first time driving my rig to work, wich means first time on the freeway....I really hope me and her can get along tomorrow

88 3vze, A340H (I'm pretty sure) Auto, 4x4

 

Im having problems with my a340h tranny slipping in second gear.when i take off first thing in the morning when its cold it never slips and revs way up but after not even 5min of driving itll start slipping when i stop and then take off.makes truing to pull out in traffic a huge risk. Now what i my questions are is this:

1) would an aftermarket cooler help?
2) would filling it with lucas tranny fix help?
3) since i used a tranny fluid that was cheap and not dex III could that have harmed my tranny?

PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO JUST PUT IN A 5 speed. Thanks to anyone who can help!!
