Performance Increase

Hey

Well ive been reading alot of posts about the V6 3.0 (3.slow) and everyone wanting to know how to get more power out of their 3.0. I havent been able to find many threads on how to increase power in your 22RE. What are some good starting points. I have a totally stock 22RE and I want to put on bigger tired and add a lift but before doing that id like to get a bit more power out of the 22RE.

any help would be great

Thanks
ashaskin

There isn't alot of power to be had really.
I have added a performance head and cam
high flow exhaust system and header...

if you want to keep what power you have after you go to bigger tires...regear..

thats probably the best advice for power ..regear

Of all the things I've done so far changing gear ratio from stock to 4:88 helped the most. A little quick thing is to remove air filter or get less restrictive filter. And use high oct. fuel. Go to LC Engineering I got the Crane multispark and the ECU upgrade. Those two things really amped up my power and can be done with simple tools.

regear first then spend your money on performance parts

Dude...don't take out your filter. Just don't do that. If you need to, get a K&N or an Amsoil, but don't remove your filter. That's just bad advice, period. Regear, get a cam, swap in a 3.4 or something, but DO NOT take out your filter.

I kinda figured I'd get some static from the take out the filter commit. It's an old race car trick. But it will give an idea of how much gain comes from low restriction. Don't take out the filter it will cause Global Warming

A quick question. Is regearing only necessary for trucks with big tires, or is it a viable option for a regular 2wd truck with a better engine, say a LCE Pro Stroker 22RE. I'm not really a 4x4'er, I'd rather go to the track

gearing is used at a race track to get in the right rpm range for that track ie length of straight aways condition of surface (more or less traction). We had a quick change rearend and would have one set of gears in the heats then switch gears for the main. I

This will do absolutley nothing for you. You might see a little pickup in accelaration, which I doubt, but other than that. The 22re is about as fast as its gonna get.

My suggestions.

K&N air filter
Regear
New headers, high flow cat, high flow muffler. 2.25" or 2.5" pipe.

Or do what i do and cut the floorboards out and act like the flinstones. Lol.

Putting higher octane fuel in your engine will also cause a lot of buildup inside your combustion chamber because there is not enough air coming in to properly combust it.

ok,ok I give up! I'm a fool...In hinsight I was just lookin for something to post so that I could see my avatar But I can see the mayham I have caused. This young lade (17) was looking for a little performance increase that was quick and easy. Sure you can replace filter with K/N 200$ which means pipes and muffler overhaul 500$. Regaer 500$ best case. etc. etc. I have checked my humility. and will be more restrained in my postings. This is kinda like telling another person something you think you know with 10,000 people standing over you're should waiting for you to guff up haha

So, assuming I have a LCE Pro Stroker engine, and I went to a drag strip or something, would regearing be necessary? Right now, with everything bone stock, I can usually only get 10-15mph out of each gear up until 4th.

Or do you mean differential regearing?
