i have an 87 4runner 22re. wheni got the truck, 116,000 orgin miles, i drove truck 3 days and developed a low end knock. had truck towed to my house. after looking into it, i found coolant in oil, timing chain guides bad. i bought another 87 4runner with a lc eng camed motor with, what the owner says, 3000 miles. i drove it for several months no problems. decided that i love my low mile, better looking lifted runner better, so i did a motor swap. today on my way home, after 2 weeks, this motor is developing the same noise as the other startes with. loud knock, with squeaking. this truck is an automatic, with no gears yet, 33's. planned on a 5speed swap (from other truck). but am wondering what may be causing this?
