Hey I am gonna have to do a timing chain on my 4Runner because my plastic timing chain guide broke, I figured I would just go ahead and replace the head gasket while its off and I have a few questions.

1. Does anyone know where to get the metal timing chain guides for cheaper than the 75 dollars that LC Engineering makes?

2. Is there anything or any tricks I need to know that may not be common knowledge or in the Haynes manual for doing a timing chain and a head gasket?

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

1.make sure first of all you put the gasket on the right side some will say this side up on the gasket but a lot will say on the instructions the side with the emblem up just make sure you torque it to spec and make sure the surface is clean also i use some black cox forgot the name on both sides of the gasket to keep it from leaking 1 more thing about the gasket do not use the cork ones they suck and will leak no matter what .not sure if fel-pro makes stuff for Toyota but will say fel-pro is the only gasket i will ever use there great but for a price


2.when putting on the timing chain there are so many different procedures out there do not want to lead you the wrong way so since i don't have any knowledge on Toyota engine i think someone else will chime in but for Chevy a double roller timing is one of the greatest inventions ever lol it will double in life time if they make them for your engine buy one and like i said for Chevy all you must do is line up the dots on the two gears and your all set but your engine might be different so look it up first GL let us know how it goes
