Newbie Question

I am sure these questions have been asked a million times, but I joined because I am sure atleast one of you will know the answers. I have a 2002 4Runner SR5 Sport that is bone stock.

1) What is the backspace on factory 16x7 alloys?

2) I am going to put a 1" daystar leveling lift on the front; will I be able to fit a 32/11.50R15 tire? Yes, I am buying new 15" rims. Or would a 265/75 -16 be better since it is not as wide? Or am I stuck with 31's even though it looks like I have a ton of extra room.

3) what advantages do 15" rims have over 16" rims and vic versa?

I do not offroad much, but I do a lot of hunting and must drive on logging roads and fields in order to hunt some locations. I need a tire that is good on the road "Gas Prices" and good in the mud as corn fields in the spring really suck. I know these questions have been asked a million times, but I really need to tap your knowledge base.

Thanks

hey man!
welcome to yota tech.. firs off i dont hink you can run 15 inch rims ... especially if you have a 3.4litre 4runner.. i beilve in 02 you need 16 in rims to clear caliper..

also i run 32.11.50.15 on my 93 and 94 4runners with no lift on a 15 in rim...i owuld prolly go for bfg mudterrains... sometimes when im in one of my trucvks with only all terrains i really wish i was in my other truck with the mudders!

Bingo, you would have to clearance the calipers to fit and thats probably more than you're wanting to get into.

Also, the only advantage I see to getting a 15" rim is the extra sidewall to help absorb bumps.

I like the 16's on the 3rd gens, I think they match the rig very well and aren't probably the most common size rims out there - meaning more tire options.
