Newbie help on Leaf Springs and Suspension
Hey guys,
I just bought a 1985 Toyota for fairly cheap. I plan on doing very mild crawling but mostly it will be used for trails and on-road use. One of the only things that I have found that is bad with the truck is the suspension. The front literally only has and inch or two between the front axle and the bump stops(starting to reverse arch). The rear is not as bad, but it is definitely not good. It seems that that Gpeter was in the same boat, but I did not want to hijack his thread. My question to you guys is, what leaf springs should I get? I am not opposed to either a lift kit, or riding at stock height. I have heard mixed reviews about the lift kits from company's like Rough Country and Skyjacker...is there any input from you guys? I don't want to spend a whole lot (after all I am a poor college student), but I don't want to buy something that will fail after only a couple years of use. And I realize that the more expensive kits probably are of higher quality, but I don't plan on doing anything too extreme. lol. Please help me with my predicament.

JC Whitney sells new stock rear springs, but not fronts. I'm still deciding what to do, even OME lifts appear to be too much lift for my DD, they are advertised as 2" but come out closer to 4" it seems. I may bite the bullet and have Alcan or Deaver make me up a set of springs that provide a 1" lift or so and improved ride.
