Newbie with fuel issue.

Hi guys, Im mike and i own a 1988 pickup 4x4 5spd. I have only owned it for a month or so and it has yet to get me to work and back. Check engine light came on and it started acting like it was running out of fuel. I changed the main relay, computer, and straight wired the pump. and still can find the problem. Im getting fire to the plugs and distributor. Pump is running i know that for sure i can hear it when i connect it to the battery. I took an injector connector off and it is getting power. Im lost and have no other idea's as to what could be wrong. Any ideas or info would be great.

Mike

well just what caused the CEL to come on?/

The code might give you an idea what to look at.

You replaced the ecu with a brand new one??

Could be as simple as wires and plugs

So this is a new issue? It was running fine before?

The sound of the fuel pump operating is not a correct way to test fuel pressure. You need to test for fuel pressure.

Since you have spark at the spark plugs, the engine still needs fuel, compression and timing to operate.

Which motor you have? 88 had two options. The very least I would change the filter as it is probably needed anyways. If the pump was working before, not sure why you bypassed it.
