New to the toyota scene
#1
I recently got into my first toyota. It is a 1993 pickup DLX with 171xxx miles on it. This truck has been in my family for as long as i can remember. It was my dad's untill recently when the windshield cracked and we went to get another one and the place found a bunch of rust holes around the top of the windshield. My dads first thought was its not worth fixing so i decided to take the truck. I fixed all the rust by welding pieces of meal in and now the truck has a new windshield. Im wondering what my first modification should be. I've read the post that explains about doing lockers and gears first and not suspension. I have been looking at the truck and driven it alot and it performs great offroad but the only downfall is that the tires are street tires and they need to go. Im trying to keep this as my project and i have a daily driver so would it be a wise choice to get some 31" and just put them on the stock rim. Im still a kid and have a budget so if you think this isn't the wisest choiuce for me say so. I'm also wondering what are some good diy mods that dont cost very much. Thank you for reading this long post and any help is great. Thanks alot people.

If you have a 22RE we have the same truck
Check my sig line for my mods.
Here is my 93. Not too much stock on it any longer. I started with a header from LC. Then I went on to an Aussie, 4.88's and so on.
Welcome.

first off let me be the frist to say Welcome to YotaTech. Second, Assuming your not going to do anything crazy with the rig a set of 31-10.5's would do ya some good, If your not to worried about mileage maybe some 33's, If you do switch to 33's remember itll be driveable but not very fun with the stock gearing. Anyway, Just hang around check out all of yotatech and take in all the info you can, I guarantee you can find all the info you need if you use the search button up top. Oh, And I hate to say it, but

I just sold my '93 22re DLX last week
. I had 31x10.5s on it with stock gears. I liked it. You get used to it. When I first had them on, it felt SOO sluggish. You should deff go with 31x10.5s if you don't want to regear. get an Aussie or another similar locker. Getting armor also kind of depends on the type of wheeling you do. Rock crawling? trails? Mud slinging? Desert? Some combo of those?

I can post pictures but not right now im in school. I figured 31" tires would be good only because i don't want to regear, yet. I just read a post about putting an intake, header and full exhaust on the 22re which is something i will do soon so it won't feel so sluggish with the bigger tires. Armor will be coming when i can get some money and the only wheeling i've done so far is just some trails nothing too crazy but i'm willing to try anything. Living in Connecticut there aren't many legal places to wheel but ill have to do some research on that. Nice truck toyospearo i hope to soon have made some changes to my truck. For now im just trying to find out everything about the truck and do some mods that won't cost me too much but make the truck better all around. Thanks.

! I didn't know you could go wheeling here at all, but never really looked into it. My truck is my DD, and thus it won't be wheeled.
