New Toyota Owner

Hey guys, I am a new owner of a USED 1992 Toyota 4x4 Single Cab. I have some questions that I have tried to look up but didnt find. It has 177k miles and seems to run fine so far.

First of all, It has an automatic. I do not know if this is good or bad, and I am led to belive it has mode where the tranmission preforms different. Is this the square botton just infront of the shift lever? What does this button do, and what else can you tell me about the Toyota Autos of this year? Maybe there is a FAQ i should be finding?

Also, I am looking for a good tire for my rig. I know my needs, just not what tires are right for them. I live in north idaho and will be contending with Snow, Ice and Slush in the winter, and in the spring summer logging roads, mud, and rocky mountain roads. I was considering a 30" tire and want to try to keep it around 800. I also will be driving from river to river across montana a bit, which is high speed interstate.

Any advice you can give a brand new yota owner would be great. I'll be sure to get up pics as time goes on as I plan to camp and explore with her a great bit.

As far as the transmission performing different, Its called Overdrive. My dads 91 has it as a button on the end of the windshield wiper lever. It just changes when the transmission would downshift for when you are pulling a load etc.

Hey there! More fellow Idahoans getting on here haha; I'm from Boise. Figured I'd help out with your tire question. I was running these (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Goodyear-W...R15LT/11983156) for a little bit. I know, I know, BEFORE YOU SAY walmart tires? No waay.. I never let a "walmart brand" convince me to not buy it before. IT IS Goodyear and would not produce a cheapy/dangerous tire. These tires held up great down here in snow/mud/dd. They wore down actually very slow/nice. And they look a little beefier, they have small sidewall protection which gives it a better look. I was not let down by these and $160 each for 31x10.5? That's a steal for a great tire.

Yea i mean, i like WA better but i landed a good job in Idaho!

I really try to do everything in my power to never step into a walmart. call me a hippie if you must. I do appreciate the feedback, but flat out im a walmart hater even if its a good product at a good price.

I am thing of a Copper Discovery A/t or M+S

I have a 15 inch rim what size tires are availle for me? it gets confusing. What about some agressive (and good in snow/ice) AT tires around the 28-30 inch range?

Oh... I gotcha. Sorry, no help there on the shifting. Also, What part of Northern Idaho are you in? As for tires... Some mat hate me for this, but I know what I will be getting this summer after my Wildcats are toast. Im getting treadwrights. The are retreads, but I have heard nothing but good things about them! I figure I will be getting either 31 or 33's and the are 130 a piece. You really cant beat that!!

i got 31.5x10.5/15 Firestone destinations AT tire on my 98 tacoma single cab and personally i think they are the best AT tire for the price. I had the BFgoodrich ATs which were nice but they are about $60 more then the firestone and the firestone is meatier. Quiet on the highway for being AT yet good in offroad situations.
