need some advice on oil.

I'm about to get my oil changed, and I really never cared what kind of oil they put in it. But I got to thinking and I want the BEST oil for my 4runner available. Any ideas?

That's obvious information, I'm talking about a certain brand of oil, or a oil that's specifically made for something. like they have oil to stop engine gunk, oil for high millage vehicles etc... you know what I mean now?

Obvious to whom? I think the lack of responses to your post should tell you something about the question.

You will get as many preferences about oil as you get about tires or favorite food.

On my new Tundra I bought a maintenance package and take it to the dealer when the light comes on and they change the oil. What brand do they put in it? I don't know or care.

With my older vehicles, 5w30 every 3K miles in a popular brand name like Castrol or Valvoline or whatever is on sale in the big gallon jug at my local auto parts place.

The point should be to regularly maintain the vehicle through properly intervalled oil changes, 3K-7.5K miles depending on recommended service intervals from the auto maker.

Here is some light reading so perhaps you can make an informed decision on your own:
