Need new engine

Hey guys, my 3.0 has a rod knocking I am pretty sure. 248k, its been a good one but I'm unsure which is best way to proceed. Is a replacement better than a rebuild? Cost is not that much more and warranty is longer. What about the upgrade to larger engine, is it worth it?

Since your New to the Forum Welcome!!

What works best for you ??

Can you do most of the work Yourself??

Some Live for the 3.0 Others pretty much hate them You need to figure just where you fit

I belong to the crowd who would not spend a dime on a 3.0

I am pretty sure we all like our 3.4 swaps

Hello wyoming9, thank you for being so kind to help me. Not only am I new to yototech I'm a caveman using this computer! I'm trying. With regard to my ability, I am a fair mechanic, slow but do ok. I bought into the 3.0 Not knowing about them but to be honest have had decent service from this one. Not a powerhouse but for the way I drive its been ok. I would like to upgrade to the 3.4 if there is not major obstacles to overcome. I talked to my local shop owner, he has swapped but not upgraded engines before. Said he would if not major conversions. I told him what I had read was reletively straight forward swap. I have to do something, got a quote for putting a Jasper engine in it for almost $5000. Got too many other things to work on to spend that. Is there info I can print out detailing all necessary work to go to a 3.4? Let me thank you again for helping me. I promise to pay attention and not be more of pain than I have to be. Charles. Whitworth451
