Red face Need help on toyota

Hey i have a 1988 toyota 22re turbo pickup and I was wondering if I could put that in a 1992 toyota in place of a 22re

If they're both 22re why not just put the turbo on the other? if they're both 22re they should both be the same

This is the kind of misguided advice that gets people in trouble.

22RE and 22RTE engines are NOT the same. They don't even have the same compression ratios

The 22ret has lower compression for turbo boost and a different cylinder head design (although they are interchangeable). They also have oil lines coming from the back of the block and an oil return in the center of the left side. The 22re has these cast in the block, just not drilled or tapped. Also, trucks with the 22ret have different radiators.
