Need help with Cargo light trigger

I'm new to YotaTech and need your help. I've searched Yotatech as well as the internet in general, and I'm unable to find what I'm looking for. I have a 1999 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and I'm trying to repair the cargo light. When I switch the light to "On" the light turns on, but if I switch it to "Door" it won't turn on when the hatch opens. The four passenger doors seem to work fine and I see the rubber boots for each of the doors, but I'm unable to identify where the hatch light trigger is so I can try and repair it. Please help.

Thanks a ton!

Update: I played around with the hatch after I posted the question, and it looks like the same trigger that displays the door ajar icon on the dashboard also controls the hatch light. I managed to get the light to turn on after I repeatedly pulled the hatch handle many times, but it seems like there is a corroded connection or a loose connection somewhere. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this? I appreciate the help.

The switch is inside the hatch. You have to remove the carpet panel and then the inner plastic lining to get to it. It should have a blue/white wire and a white/black wire. The blue/white is +ve and the white/black goes to ground. When you find the switch check the connections, and check that the white/black wire is firmly grounded. It could just be sticking or wet, then a shot of WD40 might fix it.
