I really really depends. What condition is the truck in? There will be issues, possibly a lot of them. But if you really want an '83 Toyota it's worth it. I bought mine for less than $1500 but it needed work. You can find one in really pretty decent shape for that price, though. Hows the body? Rusty? What about the frame? There are so many variables. Some '83s are worth much more than $1500, some aren't worth $500. In order to give advice we'd need to know waaaay more about this truck. 1983 is a long time ago, so trucks that old range from being in fairly pristine shape to being not worth the gas to drive out to see, so it's not a question anybody here can answer without more info, and pictures would be even better.

I see it's got a newer engine, tranny & t-case, so I'd say if it isn't rusty (especially the frame), then it's probably worth it.
