Question MY rear end has lots of backlash. How hard is it to fix?

Hey so on my 93 v6 4x4 pickup the I can get under it while the truck is in neutral and turn the drive line about 2 inches total back and forth. I've checked all the U-joints and they are sound. So from what I can tell I need new gears in the rear end, they are 4.30's. Not have every really dealt with diff's def on toyota's how much of a process is it??? From what I can tell the parts cost a couple hundred bucks?
thnks

a little backlash is normal. are you having any other rear end issues, howling, growling, clunking, etc?
